Chaos ReUnion Interview

Give to here: UK Punk & Oi

From the icy wastelands of Siberia comes Chaos ReUnion. These boys are dedicated to their beliefs; anarchy, punk rock, fucking capitalism and spray painting punk graffiti. We approached them for an interview and they kindly agreed. Below are their answers.

1. Please give a brief history of the band, including current line up:

URI:
We start in 2001. That year we recorded "The Presentiment Of Nuclear War" single, which was included in "A Global Zombie Age" album. Year later we played our first gig and released "Wars Forever" EP. Two our songs appeared on "Russian Punk Cannonade 5" compilation. Also some our songs are in Omsk Harcore Punk Compilations "West-Siberian Headache 1/2" . During last 7 years we played gigs thruoghout the city with different bands. Most of them we played with Bristled-Up, our friends and stage partners. Also we played gigs with the other hardcore bands from Siberia such as Margaret Thrasher (old school hardcore) and Moy Flag Smyat. Our line up was changed all the time and now it looks like that: Uri the Resurrected - vocals , Kitaez - guitar/backing vocals, Murder Face - guitar, Jocker - bass, Rembo - drums.

2. Discography:

1. Wars Forever EP (Anti-Hit Records' 2002)
2. Noise Not Music (2004)
3. A Global Zombie Age (Marginal Media / Scum Records' 2006)
4. From Siberia With Hate / split with Bristled-Up (Scum Records' 2007)
5. Wars Forever/Noise Not Music (Scum records' 2007) one CD
6. God Save The President EP (Scum Records' 2008)

3. Has any band member played in other bands, if so what?

URI:
Yes. Our bassist from our first line up play in another omsk hardcore-punk band Bristled-Up, and also play guitar in anarcho-punk band Doloto.

KITAEZ:

Alex Murderface also playing in a two-men black metal band Dying Sun.
Yozh(our first drummer and bassist as well) now is playing in a black-death metal band Messia.
Jocker earlier played in a punk HC band with female vocal Scandal.

4. Describe your sound.

URI:
Raw and noisy

5. Do you do any covers in your live set, if so what? and why?

URI:
Yes, we ve done several covers through our live and studio work. We always play Disorder Life' cover on russian called Omsk'. We played Chaos Uk No Security' and Victimised', The Ejected Young Tribes Of England', GBH Alcohol', OneWaySystem Stub The Judge' covers. Also some of them are recorded.

6. If you could see any band play live, either of the past or present who would it be?

URI:

Chaos Reunion, Disorder, Amebix, Varukers, Oi Polloi, MTA, MDC, Riistetyt, Kaaos, Blitz, Chaos Uk (I heard they split up a year ago), Death Side. I also saw Conflict, Broken Bones, Restarts and Deathskulls when I was in London five years ago.

KITAEZ:
Icons of filth (Stig RIP), Sepultura (with Max), of course Discharge, some of the finnish (Riistetyt,Kaaos) and japanese (Death Side, The Comes) bands.

7.What is the favourite song (and what band is it by) of each member of the band?

URI:

I have lots of favourite songs and lots of bands admire me, most of them are english. But for today my favourite song is X casualty by Disorder, I also like MTA but I have only one album "The Politics Of Denial".

KITAEZ:

I like many songs. For example Religion instigates (Discharge), Innerself (Sepultura), Fucked up state (Icons of filth).

8.What are your musical influences?

URI:

Disorder, Chaos UK, Amebix, Discharge, Conflict, Cress, A//Political, Extreme Noise Terror, Anti-Cimex, early finnish hardcore-punk bands.

9. What influences your lyrics? Humour? Politics? Personal Experiences? etc.

URI:

I think mostly personal experiences and different events that had come through my life. Politics influence as well.

10. Punk music has long been associated with Anarchy. There are many interpretations of that word.
What does Anarchy mean to you?

URI:

Anarchy for me is self-responsibility, self-rule, self-organisation. Firstly you have to respect the others rights and don't let anyone dictate you what to do even so called anarchists who like fascists impose you their rules. Just another kind of fucking new religion. NO GODS NO MASTERS! Anarchy is such organisation of sociaety where decisions are reached as a group, without a hierarchial system of command. We also support Animal rights and different initiatives like Food Not Bombs and Anti-Fascist Action.

KITAEZ:
For me anarchy is a personal freedom from different prejudices, influences. It's a respect for other people. And of course NO GODS NO MASTERS!

11. What would you say your bands best gig was?

URI:
I think our best gig is goinng to be in the future! I like gigs we played during the summer and autumn 2005. Also our second gig was very memorised. Most of the troubles is just bad sound in most of the venues we played. Unfortunately hardcore punk gigs is quite rare event in our city. All the gigs we organize by ourselves.

12. Future plans, gigs and releases:

URI:
We plan some gigs in omsk during the winter. It's just one trouble in our city to find a proper venue, some of them don't whant to make punk gigs, some of them a too expensive to rent it for a gig, so we need an autonomous place. In summer we plan to make punk-hardcore openair. Our new album The Time Of The Murderers' are goinng to be released in spring this year.
Cheers.
